Dalyan Holidays

Dalyan is large enough to be considered a small town, but with only around 4,000 inhabitants, it is still very quaint. For those of you that enjoy natural beauty and history, this is the perfect place for renting villas or apartments. Suitable for all ages, although luckily free of any 'Brits abroad culture', Dalyan is a place to relax and appreciate the diversity of the local area. In the southwesterly corner of Turkey's beautiful coastline, it is still a traditional fishing village, nestling along the river bank. With such varied accommodation, it is possible to find great late deals through online agencies such as Jetline, where it is possible to book accommodation and flights at the same time.

When to Visit

Luxury holidays in one of the beautiful local villas, or package holidays - all are perfect in Dalyan's Mediterranean climate, so you are able to go any time of year that suits. With average temperatures of 27 degrees in July and August and hovering over 20 degrees for the rest of the summer months between May to October. Dalyan is blessed with around 300 days of sunshine annually, it will always be lovely no matter when you go.

So Much To See

You really don't need to wander far from Dalyan to come across antiquities such as temples and Roman baths. Luxury holidays may be your choice, or perhaps hotels or apartments are preferred - most are central to everything. The River Çayi flows next to the village, through the nature reserve, and it is possible to hop aboard one of the boats, to take you to many nearby places. Visit the ruins of ancient Kaunos, close to Lake Köycegiz, which includes a Byzantine basilica, Roman theatre and baths plus the amazing rock tombs which were carved out of the local cliffs some 2,500 years ago and are floodlit at night.

Take a boat to Sulunger Lake, up river from Iztuzu Beach, which although tranquil, has all amenities available. Do visit the turtle sanctuary and learn the fascinating story of their breeding and conservation in the area. Put on your list the Sultaniye Thermal Springs and the mud baths at Sultaniye Camur Banyosu , where, if you let them, the tiny fish will gently nibble your toes, giving you a free pedicure!

Food – So Much – What To Choose

There really is something for everyone, from many vegetarian dishes, including the Meze, which is traditionally a variety of Turkish appetisers. The restaurants are numerous and of very good quality, offering anything from the traditional hotpot to a full English breakfast (minus the pork bacon of course!). Kebabs are also very popular, consisting of various grilled meats and vegetables, cooked on skewers. Try also the delicious Karniyarik: an eggplant stuffed with mincemeat, onions and tomatoes, with a good dash of garlic.

Nightlife

The nightlife is everything from laid back to sophisticated, but whether you have chosen a holiday to relax, or to experience the history and culture, there is always something for everyone. From great restaurants, you will soon discover your favourites, to bars offering live music and even the odd nightclub. But generally, the entertainment is low-key and is there to be enjoyed by all.

This is a truly wonderful place to visit. Look online at companies such as Jetline, so that you can make a decision as to what you would prefer – villas, apartments, hotels or package holidays. Dalyan will be a place that you will return to many times.
